At Alpha Drives Ltd, we specialize in providing swift and efficient solutions for critical equipment breakdowns. Recently, we were called upon to address a fault in a customer’s 132 kW extruder line, which had rendered the machine inoperable.

Quick Diagnosis and Solution

Upon inspection, it was clear that the existing 132 kW Siemens Simovert Masterdrive, now obsolete, needed replacement. Leveraging our extensive inventory, we promptly installed and commissioned a new 132 kW Siemens SINAMICS G120 Power Module PM240-2, along with a Profibus Control Unit.

Key Steps in the Process:

• Drive Replacement: The outdated Masterdrive was replaced with the advanced SINAMICS G120.
• Control Unit Integration: A Profibus Control Unit was added to ensure seamless communication.
• PLC Code Modification: We updated the original PLC code, integrating a new GSD file into the S7-300 PLC.

Our team worked efficiently to commission the new system, ensuring the extruder line was up and running smoothly in no time. The successful upgrade not only restored functionality but also enhanced the overall reliability and performance of the machine.
