Alpha Drives & Switchgear is pleased to announce that Phase 2 of our development plan has begun at our headquarters located at Junction 17 in the national enterprise park in Portlaoise. This significant investment solidifies our position as a major leader in the Irish industrial and automation sector and ushers in another exciting chapter in our continuous growth.

Building on Our success

Our move to the National Business Park from Clonminam Business Park in 2023 has shown out to be a very wise strategic choice. The Junction 17 property provides unparalleled logistical advantages for severing our expanding clientele throughout Ireland due to its central location and excellent road connections. We have continued to expand our footprint in important industries like data centres, wastewater, food and beverage, and chemical and pharmaceuticals, all while maintaining a team of 25 Highley qualified people.

In addition to increasing operational effectiveness, our new site has made it possible to plan forward and provide the foundation for our future expansion.

What Phase 2 involves

The second phase is a big step forward for our company. As part of the development, a 38,000 square foot manufacturing and assembly facility will be built to increase our capacity to produce switchgear. This phase, which is presently under development, should be finished in nine months.

The expansion’s highlights include:

• New automated machinery to increase productivity
• Greater ability to handle bigger and more intricate projects
• Increased productivity to meet client demands and shorten lead times

Alpha Drives & Switchgear will be able to provide our partners and clients with superior, custom-built control panels and integrated industrial solution’s thanks to this advancement.

A commitment to local investment

We are pleased to inform that the company is financing all of the €3.5 million investment funding Phase 2 on its own. The fact that most of the investment stays local is equally significant:

• John Conlon Construction, a Portlaoise-based company, is in charge of the construction.
• Every building material is purchased from regional vendors.

Our corporate goals and our steadfast dedication to the local economy and community development in County Laois are both reflected in this expansion.

Future Growth and Job creation

Alpha Drives & Switchgear hopes to add up to 30 additional positions after phase 2 is finished. Our engineering, production, and support teams will be strengthened as a result of the expansion, enabling us to meet growing demand while maintaining a level of quality and dependability that our customers have come to expect.
