When It Comes to Old Panels with Drives & Motors Difficulties Can Arise If There Is a Sudden Failure and Immediate Replacement Is Needed to Keep the Machine Up and Running. Below Is an Example of a Typical Upgrade. A Wrapper Machine Using Older Simovert MasterDrive’s, S7-300, And Older Servos.

With the discontinuation of Simovert MasterDrives back in 2011 and the changeover to the Sinamics Drive family for more functionality and safety-integrated functions, the Sinamics system has a different system structure than SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES so migration is not possible. With the older servos issues can also arise with newer upgraded models due to encoder compatibility and we have seen in some cases the control of the motors is done primarily in the MasterDrive and not the plc and so creating further problems in replacement and major machine downtime. So certainly, some things to consider if you have older parts of the plant that need looking at.

In this case:

3 x SIEMENS SIMOTICS Servo motors (no gearboxes)

3x SINAMICS V90 Servo drives

1 x SIEMENS S7-1500 PLC

At Alpha Drives we can help you with these types of upgrades and supply & commission the whole project with new Drives, Servos & PLC together with a new PLC program.

The drive system comprises the SINAMICS V90 servo converter and the SIMOTICS S-1FL6 servo motor. The system features eight converter frame sizes and seven motor shaft heights to cover a power range of 0.05 to 7.0 kW for operation in single-phase and three-phase networks. It can be integrated easily via PTI, PROFINET, USS, or Modbus RTU. The SINAMICS V90 servo drive system enables a host of simple motion control tasks to be implemented cost-efficiently and conveniently with the focus being on dynamic motion and processing.
