When it comes to old panels with Drives & Motors difficulties can arise if there is a sudden failure and immediate replacement is needed to keep the machine up and running. Below is an example of a typical upgrade. A wrapper machine using older Simovert Masterdrives , S7-300 and older servos.

Main Panel

With the discontinuation of Simovert Masterdrives back in 2011 and changeover to the Sinamics Drive family for more functionality and safety integrated functions the Sinamics system has a different system structure than SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES so migration is not possible. With the older servos issues can arise also with newer upgraded models due to encoder compatibility and we have seen in some cases the control of the motors is done primarily in the masterdives and not the plc and so creating further problems in replacement and major machine downtime. So certainly some things to consider if you have older parts of the plant that need looking at.

At Alpha Drives we can help you with these type of upgrades and supply & commission the whole project with new Drives ,Servos & PLC together with a new plc program.

Sinamics V90 Servo Drive

The drive system comprises the SINAMICS V90 servo converter and the SIMOTICS S-1FL6 servo motor. The system features eight converter frame sizes and seven motor shaft heights to cover a power range of 0.05 to 7.0 kW for operation in single-phase and three-phase networks. It can be integrated easily via PTI, PROFINET, USS or Modbus RTU. The SINAMICS V90 servo drive system enables a host of simple motion control tasks to be implemented cost-efficiently and conveniently with the focus being on dynamic motion and processing.
