A concrete works plant asked us to provide a solution to bring power from a main transformer room over 100m to a new production building containing mixers and other processing machinery. After sizing the correct cable sizes for the phases based on distance and loads we set about the complete design of the Power Distribution sections using the Siemens SIMARIS configuration tool with Sivacon S4 style panels. The configuration tool ensures a designed verified system in accordance to standard IEC61439 for the two main sections.The incomer section contains a Siemens 1250 A ACB 3WA1112-4AF34-0AA0 coupled to the main transformer. The second power section contains the power distribution board that has a 1000A ACB with 2 x 250 A , 2 x 100A & 1 X 100A power delivery sections with power metering.

Using the configuration tool we selected the correct equipment low and medium voltage switchgear , breakers and protective devices as well as the proper spacing and dimensioning of busbars. Such things as Lightening protection & overvoltage protection is also easily achieved with all the devices required listed and included into the project graphically which makes for a faster and less complex design.
